Together with Remeha, Aurum has realised pilot setups in houses with which energy streams are made insightful in real time and actively managed (load balancing) in order to use energy as efficiently as possible. In these houses, the following elements are measured and made insightful in real time:
Smart meter (gas + electricity)
Charging station for the electric car
Remeha Heat Pump
In the pilot homes we measured above energy sources with Aurum sensors. We integrated Remeha’s smarth thermostat, the eTwist, on the Aurum data platform. Aurum developed a custom energy app specifically for this project. In this user friendly web app, home owners could view the energy currents in their home real-time.

Providing insight in their homes energy patterns and answering their questions:
‘How efficiënt is my home?’
‘How dependent am I on the electricity grid?
‘What does my energy cost?’

Remeha produces innovative efficient energy systems for end users. In order to leverage the high energy efficiency of their appliances, Remeha wants to make energy currents visible.

To inform the customers on additional energy products
Remeha asked Aurum to develop the next requirements:
1. Develop a front-end solution that gets end users involved in their homes’ energy streams.
2. Specify the API to integrate with Aurums data collection
3. Upgrade the software in the Aurum monitoring hardware sets.
4. Upgrade the software in the Aurum Energy Data Platform in order to integrate third party data sets.
With these adjustments the data of different information sources can be stored on the Aurum Energy Data Platform, including the smart thermostat data. Different information sources can be visually presented in an app through the Aurum API.
The availability of data leads to insights and control for the user, but this also accounts for the company Remeha. Both the end user and the producer of the energy appliances can now make decisions based on facts. Accurate energy data allows Remeha to validate the performance of their own product in order to further increase energy efficiency.
By analysing home energy data and to return this information on an informative and playful way, we establish a fruitful dialogue with the end consumer. This opens doors to propositions for additional services and products.
We developed a new design for the sensor data architecture: DEPNA (Data End Point Network Architecture). This architecture allows for third party sensors and meters to be added to our Energy Data Platform.
The Remeha Energy App was presented on the Remeha stand on the VSK Installatiebeurs 2018.
