Landal sets the standard in smart energy management
Challenge
At Landal Vakantiepark Zeebad, homeowners received only one energy bill per year. Without real-time insight, neither owners nor tenants could manage their energy consumption effectively. Meter readings were taken manually — a time-consuming and error-prone process that cost Landal approximately €10,400 annually (2 FTE, 2×40 hours per year).
Objectives
- Enable periodic billing
- Provide insight for owners and tenants
- Offer Landal an up-to-date overview of energy usage across the park
- Ensure reliable and scalable metering data
- Be prepared for future legislation, including EPBD IV (new European building directive)
Approach
The implementation came with its challenges: multiple lodges were grouped within shared meter cabinets throughout the park. Through close collaboration and strong support from Aurum — especially from Yorick — the rollout was successfully completed.
Solution
Together with Aurum, the EnergyGrip platform was implemented. This included:
- Connecting digital electricity meters and analog gas meters online
- Providing insight per accommodation, including a flexible alert system for anomalies
- Delivering reliable data for billing, internal management, and compliance
- Digitizing operational processes
- Allowing guests and owners to monitor their energy use via an app or online portal, increasing engagement and awareness
