Cinergie – From a custom energy platform to EnergyGrip
More time for energy advice, less time spent managing a platform
Cinergie helps organizations use energy more efficiently, reduce costs, and turn energy data into actionable insights. For years, the energy consultancy used its own custom built platform to support these services.
With EnergyGrip, Cinergie is taking a different approach. Instead of developing and maintaining its own energy platform, energy data, analyses, and reporting are now brought together in an existing and scalable Energy Management System. This allows Cinergie to focus on where it adds the most value: energy advice.
Cinergie’s challenge
Energy data is an important part of Cinergie’s services. Customers have access to their own data and can perform analyses, while Cinergie’s advisors use the same data for reporting, analysis, and energy advice.
To support this, Cinergie had a custom platform developed by an external software provider. While this provided flexibility, it also meant that the platform had to be continuously developed and maintained.
Cinergie therefore looked for a solution that could provide the functionality of its existing platform without requiring the company to remain responsible for developing and maintaining a complete energy platform.
The objectives
Cinergie was looking for a solution that would allow the company to:

Aurum’s approach
With EnergyGrip, Cinergie is moving from a custom solution to an existing Energy Management System.
This is not simply about replacing software. Aurum and Cinergie work together as partners. Requirements and ideas that arise from Cinergie’s day to day experience are discussed and, when they provide value to the wider platform, can be incorporated into the further development of EnergyGrip.
This allows Cinergie to benefit from a platform that is centrally developed and maintained, while still having the opportunity to contribute practical insights and ideas for new functionality.
Aurum’s solution
EnergyGrip provides the central environment in which Cinergie makes energy data available to its customers and uses that same data for analyses, reporting, and energy advice.
Cinergie can combine data from multiple sources. Data from small energy connections can be accessed through ODA and P4, while data from large energy connections can also be imported directly into EnergyGrip.
An important addition is the ability to read submeters. Previously, Cinergie primarily relied on available API integrations. With EnergyGrip, the Nextalink gateway can also be installed on site to connect meters directly to the platform.
This gives Cinergie multiple ways to collect and combine energy data in one central environment, depending on the customer’s existing infrastructure and requirements.
The results
By moving to EnergyGrip, Cinergie no longer needs to develop and maintain a complete energy platform itself.
