Aurum Europe achieves successful RED certification for innovative gateway

Aurum Europe has reached a significant milestone with the successful RED certification under the ED Directive 2014/53/EU for their innovative gateway, specifically developed for Vattenfall’s district heating meters. This certification highlights Aurum Europe’s commitment to safety and quality in line with the latest EU regulations.

RED Certification: A standard for quality and safety

The Radio Equipment Directive (RED) is crucial for products with wireless connections sold in the European market. This certification, achieved by Aurum Europe, underscores that their products meet stringent international standards and regulations concerning cybersecurity guidelines set forth in the RED Delegated Act Article 3.3 d, e, and f (ETSI 303 645) as part of the RED Directive 2014/53/EU. This cybersecurity guideline will become mandatory for all connected IoT products after August 2025.

With RED certification, Aurum Europe demonstrates that its products not only meet the highest standards but also lead the industry in offering innovative and sustainable solutions. This achievement solidifies their position as a market leader in the digitalization of the district heating market in the Netherlands.

Impact of the new EU regulations

The achievement of the RED certification comes at a time when the EU is introducing new regulations to combat cybercrime through smart electronic products. From August 1, 2025, all digital devices with a radio component must comply with the new RED articles, specifically for cybersecurity. These regulations provide companies with the opportunity to meet the highest standards of quality and safety and encourage innovation in sustainable and responsible production.
