Reliable data as the foundation

For heat suppliers, reliable and accurate data is essential for effectively managing their network and operational processes.

With EnergyGrip, data is collected directly from meters and installations within the network. The Nextalink gateway securely communicates these measurements, ensuring heat companies always have access to accurate and up-to-date information.

By supporting multiple communication channels, data collection remains stable and reliable. This creates a solid foundation for managing and optimizing district heating networks.

Flexible integration

District heating networks often consist of various systems, meters and installations from different suppliers. EnergyGrip integrates easily with existing infrastructure.

The platform works independently of brand or device type, allowing heat companies to develop and expand their network without being locked into a single technology.

Data from the heat network

A complete understanding of the network comes from combining different types of measurement data. EnergyGrip brings this data together in one overview.

This may include:

  • consumption data from heat meters
  • installation performance
  • network pressure
  • other sensor data from the heat network

By combining these data sources, operators gain better insight into network behavior and can detect irregularities more quickly.

Pressure sensors for insight into district heating networks

Pressure sensors for district heating networks provide insight into the pressure distribution throughout the system. Deviations can indicate leaks, disturbances or a network that is not optimally balanced.

By strategically placing pressure sensors throughout the network and connecting them to EnergyGrip, operators gain up-to-date insight into network pressure and trends. By combining pressure measurements with other network data, operators obtain a complete overview of network performance and can detect issues earlier.

Accurate and transparent billing

Reliable consumption data also forms the basis for a correct billing process. With EnergyGrip, heat companies gain independent insight into energy consumption, resulting in more accurate and transparent billing.

This provides:

  • up-to-date consumption data
  • improved overview of billing processes
  • better control over billing quality

The Heat Network Platform

The Collective Heat Act (Wcw) and the energy transition are placing new demands on district heating networks. This requires professional and scalable network management.

That is why Aurum, together with Circet, developed the Heat Network Platform. In this model, technology, data and operations come together to support professional district heating management.

With real-time insight into network performance, smart asset control and 24/7 monitoring, the heat network can be centrally managed. Disruptions are automatically detected and addressed, either remotely or through field engineers.

The Heat Network Platform brings together network data, monitoring, operations and billing into one integrated approach. This creates a future-proof district heating network that complies with the Collective Heat Act and helps organizations manage their heat networks more efficiently.

FAQ

Aurum brings together data from meters, sensors, and installations in the EnergyGrip dashboard, giving operators real time insight into the performance of their district heating network. This enables faster fault detection, continuous performance monitoring, and more efficient deployment of personnel and resources.

Pressure sensors provide insight into the pressure distribution throughout a district heating network. Pressure deviations can indicate leaks, disruptions, or a network that is not operating at its optimal settings. By strategically placing pressure sensors and connecting them to EnergyGrip, operators gain real time visibility into network pressure and trends, allowing issues to be detected much earlier.

Yes. Under the European Energy Efficiency Directive (EED), all newly installed heat, cooling, and domestic hot water meters have been required to be remotely readable since 25 October 2020. Existing meters that are not yet remotely readable must be upgraded or replaced with remotely readable meters by 1 January 2027, unless it can be demonstrated that doing so is not cost effective. With EnergyGrip and the Nextalink gateway, heat utilities can meet these requirements while gaining reliable metering data for monitoring, reporting, and billing.

Reliable and up to date consumption data is the foundation of an accurate billing process. EnergyGrip provides heat utilities with independent insight into energy consumption, making billing more accurate and transparent while improving control over invoice quality, an important requirement under the Dutch Collective Heat Act (Wcw).

Yes. District heating networks often consist of systems, meters, and installations from multiple suppliers. EnergyGrip integrates with existing infrastructure and operates independently of equipment brand or type, allowing heat utilities to continue developing their networks without being tied to a single technology.

EnergyGrip combines consumption data from heat meters with installation performance, network pressure, and other sensor data from across the district heating network. Bringing all this information together provides a complete view of network behaviour, enabling operators to identify abnormalities more quickly.

The Dutch Collective Heat Act (Wet collectieve warmte, Wcw) was adopted on 9 December 2025 and is expected to come into force in phases from 1 January 2027. The legislation introduces new requirements for data quality, transparent and cost based billing, security of supply, and the professional management of district heating networks. With real time insight, intelligent asset management, and 24/7 monitoring, Aurum helps heat utilities comply with these requirements and manage their networks at scale.

Yes. Aurum provides the billing data for Vattenfall’s district heating customers in the Netherlands, serving more than 100,000 connected customers. In total, more than 150,000 connections are online through Aurum’s solutions. This makes the platform suitable for both small and large scale district heating networks.

Aurum supports heat companies
